cleaning iac valve

i was thing of cleaning my iac valve by putting hot water off the stove in one of those keatup or mustard sqirters that you see at a concession stand and then putting it in the iac valve inlet where the water goes and using it as a power washer by squirting it in there to clean the passage. does anybody think this will work? then i spray gumout in the other passage to clean that one out.
