  • SLOPPY SHIFTER

Hey guys, my 93 Festiva that has a super sloppy shifter. I don't necessarily have to go to a short throw shifter. I'm fine with the shifter I have. I just want the sloppyness to be gone. Does anyone know what all needs to be done? I've never worked on any shifters before but it doesn't look like there is alot to it. Is it just the bushings need to be replaced? If so where can I find some replacements?

    Thanks,
    Z

Look up skimsucka's thread, "shifter sloppiness solved!..." . It has all the parts & part numbers needed. You can get them at the Mazda dealer.
If it don't fit, use a bigger hammer!

Once you get the parts it is a relatively easy fix. You have to get under the car to do it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll be calling Mazda today to get pricing/delivery on the bushings/sleeves/bolts/nuts

I got the one large tranny end shifter bushing and the rod that goes through it for like 12 bucks a couple weeks ago.
