  • Mystery part: HELP

    IMAG0403.jpg

I am the proud new owner of a 1993 Festiva L 5-speed. I bought this car in pieces, the previous owner was replacing the clutch and stopped halfway through reassembly. the unattached parts were thrown in the barn and forgotten for three years. So i have this thing all back together and running great but i can't figure out where this bracket goes, or if its even for my car. If anyone can identify this part it would be very helpful.

That could go to the top of the transaxle and be a starter or clutch cable bracket of some sort. That's what it looks like to me. I'd guess a reinforcement bracket for the starter.

Look up some pictures of Festiva engine bays or pictures in a Haynes or Ford shop manual. You may be able to tell.

Definitely a 'mystery part'. I don't recall ever having seen that particular one. Any chance that this is a mounting bracket for the power steering pump from an Aspire (ie same B3 engine)?

Not a mystery part ....any longer!

It is a support bracket that bolts to the engine AND tranny. It is there for support of the tranny, and there should be 2 of them, one for each side of the engine.

Better find some big bolts and get that on quick.
The part is bracket number 2 in this schematic.
It is difficult to get at because it's facing the firewall.
