  • While messing with my wipers, I noticed a small leak on top of my radiator.

Its leaking right where those little tabs go over the black plastic part of the top of the radiator. I was thinking to just try and push those tab things back down where the fluid was coming out but didn't want to cause more damage before asking you smart folks. Thanks, Jim

By tabs do you mean the top mounting brackets? my first guess would be radiator cap or overflow nipple right by the cap... look under you cap and see if the rubber is all cracked and hard, if so it needs replaced.

If you mean the tabs that secure the rad core to the upper black plastic, including the neck and filler, then you might be in for a new rad.

Yep thats what I mean, the tabs that secure the rad core to the upper black plastic. No way to seal or fix? Thanks, Jim

I found a new rad a few weeks ago on ebay for $57.65 delivered to my house!

Had to get one because my did what yours is doing.
            Seller named "Radiator Classic".

Didn't someone say that the 1988 rads had brass reservoirs? and that they changed them to plastic the following model year? If that's true, I would like to buy an 88 rad to see for myself. Anyone know if this is true? If true, what is the Ford part number?

Thanks for the info guys. Sound like no fix here. Time for a new radiator.

How very disappointing. If it was brass, I would strip it, polish it and clear coat it.
I guess I will have to just settle for chromeplating my air cleaner and polishing my valve cover.

Just a late update that I did this summer. I bought the epoxy that is stated in the repair manual for this and it worked. Didn't have to put in a new radiator as this stuff sealed up the area around the tabs. I don't have the name and number of the sealant as I type but if anyone wants to know it I'll go look it up but it is listed in the repair manual. I found the stuff on ebay.
