You'll make the same amount on that shell if it's got seats, dash, etc. or not. Sell the items you can on here, and scrap the rest, if you are able.

Yeah, someone would want those smoothie taillights. And if it's got grey manual belts that aren't frayed and crappy I'd love to snag them and the center connector piece between the seats.

Yeah, that is pretty bad.

I say save what you can from the car, the power mirrors, any interior bits that are in good shape, all that stuff.
Any bits you want to keep, and possibly put on the next Festive you find.
Hell even if they are parts you don't want, save them anyway, and sell them on here, someone is bound to buy them.
If I am not mistaken, I believe those are adjustable headrests you have in there? I can't really tell.
Someone is bound to want the smooth tail lights, since the 90s and on models had ribbed ones.

Try and recoupe your losses on this one.

The car isn't going to be worth very much scrap metal wise. I am seeing roughly around $150-$160 per ton, and the Festiva curb weight is 300 pounds short of a ton.
So like I said, sell as many parts as you can, because the car is worth very little scrap wise.

Ya, its to bad, one little rust hole dooms the whole car.
The engine was solid and had alot of good parts.
I have no time to sell parts, so the whole car will all go to a crap yard for recycle.
They said I can get anywhere from 300 to 500.

That $300-500 may be for large cars, and trucks. But if you can get that, that would be great.

It's a shame you don't have the time to part it out, maybe someone here may be willing to buy it off you and part it out themselves?

It would be a real shame to see all those parts go to waste.

NOOO!!!! Some of the stuff that might be worth keeping are very easy to remove and don't take up much space.

You could probably make nearly 200 bucks just from the power mirrors, smoothies, and headlights. Did it have a tach cluster?

You gotta snag some of that little stuff man. Would take you less than an hour to grab that stuff.

Edit: Saw your other thread with some photos. Would be a shame to see those seats go too if they were in good shape. Looks to be the rare tan too!

Here its 210-230(if the scrap prices are "up") a ton, but there's a 300lb deduction for gas tanks left on the car. If the car runs, I'd give you 250 for it and come pick it up whenever. I need to make a trip to Cinci to see some family anyway, haven't been out there in 5 years or better.

If its an LX it's illegal to scrap it without stripping the goodies.

If you scrap it instead of selling it to a member you may find yourself in deep trouble with the Feds.



Yeah, that's sarcasm. But if you do scrap it without getting all the rare desirable goodies....
Man, it's just not right.

In two hours a mediocre mechanic can score the following
1.power mirrors and switch
2. Cargo light and hatch mounted, switch containing hatch latch
3. LX seats
4. Tach cluster
5. Tilt steering column
6. Door panels with door pockets
7. Under seat tray?
8. Cargo cover?
9. Shift boot/storage console
10. Known working carb

If you do all that you can sell it for WAY more money than scrap and still scrap it!

Or you can buy another festy and transfer those goodies.

I would be a noob wouldn't I!?
But, I thought I lost hope ....... I haven't talked to the mexican welder I know for about 2 years and I finally got a hold of him. He told me to bring the car up to his new location tomorrow morning and he will look at it. He told me there is nothing he couldn't fix so I will see.
I like the car and has some of those features (power mirrors still work, lx seats, tilt steering, smoothies). It's gonna be a s%*t box daily driver for me if the welder can save it.
If he can't, I will find time to remove any parts and sell them on here. It may take awhile, with my schedule, but I will do that if it comes to it!

Yeah, rooting for your welder. Keep in mind. 10 minutes at a time equals parts saved and money in your pocket. 10 minutes to pull the taillights for instance.

Good news about my Festiva. The Welder looked at it and said he can fix it at a cost of $200. It will take him about a week and he said it will be as good as new. I will have to do some body work after he is done, he said. He also said he will look at the other 3 suspension areas to make sure they are solid. He will work on one corner at a time to make sure everything stays lined up. If any other areas need worked on.

I will post a before and after picture of that area when he is finished.banana time

That is great news!
It's getting a new lease on life.

I did a bit of work on mine yesterday to help prevent this from ever happening. Scrapped as much of the rusted surface metal off, and put a layer of paint over those areas.
I also did the same thing to my rocker panels and wheel arches, but that was mainly cosmetic, rather have white painted rust spots, the brown rust spots on a white car.

I will eventually get around to doing the body work right, but I figured since I had a can of white auto enamel that I would paint over the rust as a temporary solution.
