Tranny help

Noobie here, first thread...i have a 93 Festy 5spd, only my 5th gear burnt out & needs to be replaced. Everytime I hit up a salvage yard I get asked 3 or 4bolt mount...what are they referring to?!?!

Same thing recently happened to my Festiva. If you are wanting another 5 speed. I think they are all the same. So if it's out of a Festiva it should work. I have no idea what they are referring to when they say 3 or 4 bolt mount...might be the different between a 4 and a 5 speed. But I'm just guessing..

Hmmm, I did tell'em it was a 5spd...but each one still askd me anyways: 3/4 bolt mount. Are they referrn to the bolts on the mount or da tranny?

Someone else is gonna have to chime in. I'm not very well versed in the Festiva ways...and also not a "mechanic" really...I can turn a wrench and read a manual or write-up. When I picked up my 5 speed I just took it out of a Festiva and gave it to a buddy here in town and he swapped it out for me. I never asked questions!

all festy 5 speeds are the same, there is no 3 or 4 bolt designation for 89-93. there is a SMALL chance that the VERY early 88 Cali cars were slightly different, but after 10/87 production date, all the cases for 4 and 5 speed are interchangeable.

i say go find another yard.... or go snooping in a PnP and grab any manual trans from an EFI car (those are all 5 spd)

Ive tried TX n AZ yards...same result: 3/4 bolt mount, so idk wat else I can do

Call them and tell them it doesn't matter. You are looking for a Festiva 5 speed from any year and any model from 88-93.
