  • Motor Racing to 3000RPM at idle!?!

My dad has a 93festiva L 5sp manual (used to be an auto but we swapped it ((might be relevant?))
Since he swapped in the motor all it does is race/smoke and there is little braking power.
We switched out the egr valve, and some relays which didn't change anything.
Any suggestions as to what the issue might be? Maybe a computer issue? Intake manifold gasket seal bad? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks~

it's definitely not in the throttle body (checked already). any other suggestions?

I'd be looking around the brake servo. Seems like it's sucking air straight in, instead of using it to assist the brakes.

^ yeah, start looking for false air or a stuck open IAC (I highlight this because Scitzz had this issue with Babycar and we rigged an orifice restrictor in line with the IAC intake tube to get the idle undercontrol.)

please post pix of your engine bay and we can help from there.
