  • doing a headgasket

    hey yall,
im doing a head gasket replacement on my 93 1.3 festiva and was wondering if there is an easy way to do it or if pulling it all apart is the only way to go, i know some cars you can get away with pulling minimal things apart to do head gaskets and was wondering if the festiva was one of them.

You can leave the intake and exhaust manifolds attached, and the distributor in place. Its also possible to leave the thermostat housing on when removing the head, but if you are doing a head gasket I'm going to assume the engine overheated at some point and it would be wise to replace the thermostat anyway. Once you have the plastic intake tubing off, timing belt off, the upper rad hose off, the heat pipe going from the intake off, and a couple of other small cooling hoses, then all thats left is the unplug all the wiring and unbolt the exhaust. Then remove head bolts and head.
    No festiva for me ATM...
