  • turning problem

i live in the country so there are a lot of long curvy roads. its kinda hard to explain the problem so bear with me...when making a long left hand turn at 55+ mph the car will turn just fine till about half way into the turn, then while keeping the wheel in one spot for the turn it feels like i cut the wheel even harder to the left but im not. the car doesnt pull durring strait driving and im not getting any uneven tire wear. its been doing this for a year or so now...what could cause this? ill try to explain it better if anyone wants me to

Please Please Please check your ball joints, have a shop check them, chances are they are shot or near it. Also check your tie rod ends. My last festiva would do the same thing, when I started taking apart the suspension to pull the engine and axles out one of my ball joints fell apart, and one of my tie rods was busted loose internally and spinning the nut free.

Great Jay ,Its funny that you say that ,yesterday when I was driving ,same thing ,I was going thru this curve and I was like WHOA ,what was that ? yes 1/2 way thru it , it felt like I jerked the wheel and made it understeer . And I too have no tire wear whatsoever, steering wheel is straight, and does not pull

I had the same thing, but only after I put on 13" konigs. Very unnerving feeling. I know my left inner tie rod is going bad. Maybe I'll check other stuff closer too. Let us know what you find.

well i looked it over last night and didnt find anything that looked bad...everything was tight and looked alright (besides my almost broken passenger side CV joint). just to be on the safe side i had a buddy of mine's dad look it over bc he is a mechanic at a ford dealership not to far from here. he said nothing but the cv joint was bad....dunno what the deal is

Maybe the joint was binding ? giving you that feeling of a sudden jerk,
I know that is what I have found so far ,I seen the boot has split and I started hearing a clicking while driving next to a raised curb, and a louder click/snap when turning and going slow ,Now I know I need a shaft assy too.
