  • Couple questions....

First off I want to thank you folks for all the help I have gotten on this forum it is appreciated.

First question.. I changed my oil last weekend and twice since then when I first start my car there is a tapping sound for about 30 seconds and then it stops. Its like there is no oil getting to the tappets at first or something. I did not have this sound at all before changing the oil. Whats up with that?

Second question... In my 90 festiva I had a chime go off when I left my lights on. This 93 does not have that chime or its not working, this really got me yesterday when at lunch time at work I left my lights on and didn't turn them off and when I was ready to head home for the day everything was dead. Had to get a jump. Do you folks know how to get this chime to work again? It chimes when I leave my keys in but thats it. Thanks, Jim

My Festiva will occasionally tick at start up as well. Usually when it's colder out.

The chiming is probbaly associated with your 90 Festy having a tach cluster and your 93 not...the tach cluster has a key in ignition and a headlight chime.

One of your latch adjusters probably has a small leak in it. It is not hurting anything, just annoying. It is full of oil when your driving, just when you stop, it drains out, so it takes a little bit to fill back up again next time you start the car.

Prafeston is correct about the tach cluster causing the chiming.
