  • help find an oil leak on 91 5 speed with a/c unit in the way

I have a 1991 5 speed Festiva. It leaks oil the right side under the right side. I have twice made a trip to Philadelphia area to a power house mechanic who does just my cars and his family cars. Twice we have installed a new crank shaft seal (under the plastic cover) Assuming the oil is not coming from the crank seal:

cam seal? Valve cover gasket? oil pump? Does any of the Festiva Power house juncture whips out there now the answer to this conundrum with a double twist rapped up inside a riddle under Neanderpaul thinking? My little boy (6 2 inch 25o pounds) Super Sid wants to take the engine out to look for it. I dont want this. Who has done this and found the answer? Tell the answer and I will be super pooper slap happy!(If it is the right answer I will get your address and send you money to buy a 1.5 quart of blue bunny ice cream.)

End of this conundrum juncture postulation

Remove plastic cover and check the cam seal. Those are known to leak after 100K or so.

I just saw team lighting suggestion. When we changed crank seal just assumed it could not be upper cam seal. I will take this power house suggestion under advisement and make a juncture battle plan. well done suggestion! if this is the right answer you will have credit for 1.5 blue bunny ice cream product coming your way!

        ^^ I want what he's smoking!

Agree about the cam seal, plus it's lots easier to do than the crank seal. Might as well do the valve cover gasket too. Recommend spray Copper-Coating the top of the gasket, where it fits into the channel in the valve cover.

Edit: this contribution should be worth at least a pint of Blue Bunny ice cream, no?
