..inner and outer tie rods for passenger side and driver side wheel bearings all installed. I think that was a pretty good deal. $60 for parts and $90 for labor. What you think? Pretty fair price?

As with the comment above; when you burn through a set of front tires in another month or so you'll wish you'd also had an alignment done. A tech isn't going to fuss around too long with doing bearings (ie removing knuckle and hub) plus two tie rods for $90 unless this was a buddy of yours and it was an 'under the table' operation.

Tie rod replacement is not a big deal (inners are more difficult than outers) but it is always prudent to check toe-in/toe out of the wheels after. None of this is a 'black art' for doing at home as long as you are aware and think things through.

Finding an honest alignment shop is pain in rear. They are ALL geared to selling new steering parts/shocks/tires and labor (of course) even if everything is brand new on the car with not a bit of slop. Just nature of the biz. Same with transmission shops..... they want to SELL even if you dont really need anything. I have always ended up just aligning with tape measure as close as possible and waiting to see how tires wear. I can get darn close and beats dealing with scammers.Last edited by Banana Bonanza; 05-11-2013, 09:02 AM.
