  • Help with Front end Shaking and noise, What could be wrong?

Hello on my 91 Ford Festiva i have wheel shaking at around 40+ mph, progressibly getting worse. ive changed both axles, Tie Rods (in and outer), Both lower control arms with sway bar bushings, brand new tires about 2 months ago.

even at low speeds i head a noise that can only be described at a rattling nut or can coming from the tires, any help would be greatly appreciated:cry_smile:

Are you certain the new tires are balance properly?

Might need a new steering rack or bushings in your steering rack. My wheel shakes a bit sometimes at higher speeds or when braking. I haven't looked into it yet..

Also it seems to shake more when accelerating, if that helps

When you changed your lower control arms did you get them tight. (the captured nuts didn't break loose did they)
not sure if that could be the problem just throwing it out there.

i thought it could be the wheel bearing, but it does not roar, the wheel rattles like a can, not all the time but every 5 seconds it will do that

did you check the lug nut torque? (seems like a dumb question but i've seen some weird things in my time)

The inside of the lower control arms have a captured nut on the in side of the unibody if the nut broke loose on.you while it was going back together it would just spin and not tighten up thus it wouldnt hold the lower control Arm tight and might cause a rattle and possiblely wheel shake.
Just something simpl you could check out.
Its probly not it... I would also check lug torque as stated

if worse comes to worst, take it back to the place you got it balanced and ask them to have the mechanic have a listen as there is nothing better than the mechanic making that noise of "that's the xyz"

then take them back to the shop and then they should be able to fix it.

If not, do what william said.
