  • tach gauge cluster

i installed a gauge cluster today that has a tach on it. it has an additional pin that the connector slides onto- and the connector does have that "extra" wire on it. my problem is that the tach doesn't work. the spedo and lights work perfect.

could it be i need a new distributor??
lightweight turbo festiva eventually... till then RALLY 323 FWD 1.8 turbo w/DMS suspension.

i installed a gauge cluster today that has a tach on it. (tachfrom an auto 91 festiva) my problem is that the tach doesn't work. the spedo and lights work perfect.

could it be i need a new distributor?? (that is where the camshaft position sensor is- which i think the ECM uses to get information??)
or where is the sensor that collects RPM data?

i got a 1993 ford festiva. original b3 with 228k miles on it.

It should be plug and play. Do you know if the tach worked before you put it in? I have done this same swap on my 93 and their was no extra wiring involved

                tach

Brian, I just installed an after market tach in my 93. I found the tach sense connector that comes off the coil. I think it was a green wire with a yellow stripe. But I don't think my after market tach is accurate, RPMs too low. Mike

Is it set for a 4 cy? Check that to see if its correct.
