  • Gas tank question

Is there any differance in gas tanks from a. 1989 carb gas tank and a newer one besides the fuel sending unit and pump in the electric one i just bought a fest with a bad gas tank but my parts car has a good one but its fuel injected

The carb shape for the mount is smaller so a injected pump can be adapted to a carb tank.
The nipples of the carb tanks are smaller than the injected tanks by 2mm for the evap stuff. Take care to assure the hose to nipple connection affects a good seal.

I love my new JY carbie tank in my injected festy!!

ebay motors, free shipping from kansas, $94. http://www.ebay.com/itm/for-88-89-Fo...b10c34&vxp=mtr

I know that's not what you're asking, but you'd have to get pretty creative with the EFI tank to make it work. The EFI fuel sending unit holds the gas gauge sender, pump and pickup sock. The carb sending unit will not physically bolt in because the carb tanks have a smaller opening on top.

I suppose if you could figure out a way to get a pickup bolted into the tank and plug off the extra evap lines it would work.
