  • 90 festiva no power at all ?!

so i aquired a festiva (flamer) in trade in the winter with a supposed bad engine. i havnt gotten a chance to mess with it to much but a few times. today i had some time to kill so i decided to check it out. i put a battery in it and turned the key and nothing happened not even the lights work, so i try another batt and nothing. checked the fuses and updated the fusable links still nothing. i took the pos batt terminal off the post and tried to see if i could at least get an ark but nothing, checked the main ground. at least i think its the main, under the fusable link box? seems ok i guess?

any suggestions? i should be able to hook a batt up and at least turn the lights on no matter what?

    -thanks

What is this, how to test your electrical problems with no tools? lol

The only non tool ford approved test is the shake and wiggle test. Turn everything on and shake and wiggle things until you see a spark or flash of light or hear a heater blower. Try your battery in another festy.

Sounds like a fun project, no offense intended from me! Where you are at with the no power I would be getting
a test light out and chasing things down.

I just had the same thing happen this morning. I got home yesterday shut the car off, got out of the car and the seat belt was dead. WTF? Oh well too much other stuff to deal with so ill do it tomorrow.

So here it is tomorrow. I go out and check the fuse for the seat belt. Its not bad.... hmm...Try something i did with my other cars. Push start down a hill. NOPE. that didn't work.

Ok so i pop the hood. Clean the battery terminals. Try jump starting. NOTHING.

I touch a fuseable wire. It Crumbles in my hand. WTH. try pulling it out. it turns to dust. Touch another. Same thing. The last one held together. I swapped it over to the engine spot and it fired but no combustion

Spend the next hour running around looking for these fusable wires. Finally find some. But i have to put my own connectors on the ends of the wires. No biggie. Put them all in new. Fired it right up.

I know in the beginning of your post you wrote "Updated the Fusable links" Does that mean replaced them?

You can stick cartridge fuses in their place. Much easier to get...

There are "cartridge type fuses" that can be gotten at any auto parts store that replace the fusible link wires. A couple bucks each and MUCH better than the wire type. Push right in. Easy peasy.

Dang, I see hazard beat me to it!
