  • There's this sludge buildup all over my engine.

I think it may be leaking oil very slowly because the oil level stays the same every time I check it. It's building up sludge below where you put the oil in at. And even lower than that. What can I do to stop the sludge build up on the outside of the motor?

Usually it's a combination of a small amount of oil and a ton of dirt off the road. Engine degreaser works wonders. Get the stuff that is safe for wiring and hoses and go to town.

You may have a leaky valve cover that may leak slightly, over time a crude oil look forms all over due to slight oil seepage and dirt sticking to it. Steam clean the crap out of it with degreaser and check your gaskets and mains.

Put a valve cover gasket on the wife's car " Jewel " Spent a day degreasing. It still looks like this a month later. It had been leaking for a couple of years, I was afraid it was going to catch fire. see pic
