  • Will Aspire roller rockers/cam work on Festiva head?

I have a good Festiva head with bad cam but a good roller cam and rockers from an Aspire. It looks like it will just bolt on. Any thoughts?

Minimal is something, IMHO for these small motors. I'd only do it if my Festy head needed repair/replacement. IMHO.

It's not carbureted so it will work fine.

Removed head on 91 Festy after blown head gasket and discovered it was warped had burned valves worn cam and rockers. Thought I'd save some money and ordered a "rebuilt head" off ebay from Northwest Cylinder Head. Ran great but has been burning oil like crazy for the past 8 months, looks like bad valve guides and/or seals. I thought I would get the original head redone then find a weekend to do the swap, but use the roller rockers and cam because the originals are trash.

How are you looking at it? Reading the carbon on the piston? I wish I had a buck for every time a reman head is put on after a headgasket went by by and the rings begin letting oil by.

An engine that has old oil, a tune with retarded timing due to a worn t belt, has rusty water with 10 year old antifreeze and for some reason loses a headgasket. The crud from the coolant jacket gets a heck of a flushing and the debris goes through the combustion chamber and washes the rings and cylinder bore.

Sometimes miracles happen and an engine once again gives good performance, emissions and no oil burning but the odds are really stacked against the rings.

The way the carbon is deposited on the piston will tell the story.

Uhhhh, was blowing water out of the radiator. Could see light between head and straight edge. Measured .038" bow in head, block was flat. Had to replace radiator because it melted the plastic lip that seals the radiator cap. Wasn't burning oil before head gasket blew, has 78000 miles, daughter ran it too long when it threw alternator belt. Still think its rings?
