  • Alternator Bolt Size

Last night I finally went out to replace the alternator belt on my car. 91L 5 Speed FI and the upper adjusting bolt snapped off inside the alternator. I will be drilling it out today to get it out and I need to know what size the bolt is so I can pick one up on the way home. Thanks in advance!!

If anyone else is curious I figured it out last night. Its a 8mm bolt with 1.25 thread pitch and approximately 25mm long

Yep, and if it's the original bolt, you can usually turn the end out with vise grips on the end that sticks out past the alternator casting. This feature also causes others to bypass perfectly good alternators in junkyards, and also gives you a little leverage on the price with the guy at the checkout counter .
