Does anyone know the size of the caliper bolts? I'm missing the top longer one. My locale parts store can't find any that will fit since theirs are shorter. If anyone have any lying around please let me know I will buy them from you thanks.

If it's for a Festy I have a few spares kicking around. If it's for an Aspire swap they are a bit thicker and likely achievable by scavenging from a Rio at the U-Pull. I'm going to be out of town until the weekend so don't expect a fast answer. Where are you located by the way?

take of the bolt on the other caliper and bring it to fastenal and have them order you some a grade 8 usa steel replacement bolts for both sides.
might as well replace any other you need at the same time as well.
maybe go stainless if you live in a corrossive place.
if not just get the steel with zinc coating.Last edited by rmoltis; 06-26-2013, 10:59 AM.

Grade 8 are English thread, he will need 10.9, which is metric thread.
But, you will not find either of those grades in Stainless.
Stainless, though resistant to corrosion, does not have high enough tensile strength for Grade 8/10.9 classification.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

Thats interesting.
I didn't know that. Perhaps I should have used the word equivalent in there somewhere.
I just walk in tell them what I want and they give me the equivalent.
I have some metric header bolts 10.9 stamped USA steel.

ARP makes a fine line of stainless bolts that have a tensile strength of approximately 170,000 lbs per square inch. This is greater tensile strength than a grade 8 fastener.Last edited by rmoltis; 06-26-2013, 12:09 PM.

nope you wouldnt be able to get any from fastenal agreed.
but for the people that speculate that stainless steel fasteners arent as strong as grade 8 myth busted.
now as for the characteristics of how it hardens and cools through its heat cycles and whether or not it maintains its integrity or becomes weakened is beyond me.
i just get steel bolts coated with zinc.Last edited by rmoltis; 06-26-2013, 01:59 PM.

However, and I believe this is how ARP can claim a grade 8 stainless, if you modify the steel formulation by reducing the Cr level and other alloying components, you can get a corrosion resistant metal with high tensile strength, but reduced corrosion resistance. So it is still marginally a stainless steel , but with reduced ability to resist oxidization, but higher strength and found in limited applications.
I'd love to have these for exhaust studs, as I already had a set through galvanic corrosion weld themselves to the block, always an issue when your from the rust belt.Last edited by Pu241; 06-26-2013, 02:58 PM.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

yeah its ridiculous.
i like the idea of stainless
but am hesitant to buy any.
i'd almost be more willing to just replace normal steel bolts every so often.
i mean the header flange bolts i pulled off that were factory were still tight and new and unscrewed like they were new.
so i figure if they could last 18 years on my car they will last long enough for me.
i just dread the idea of breaking a bolt off somewhere.
especially somewhere critical.
