What is the deal with these horns in the festy? I seem to have trouble getting one (horn) to work?!?

I hear the clicking noise when I press the horn but no horn sound! Could something else be wrong with it?

I have tried 2 used ones.

    Thanks.

Bad relay? Just because it clicks, doesn't mean it's good.
Check if there is power in the green/white wires (STOP fuse). Both should be a-live.
Does power flow through the Green/red wire to the horn when you push the horn button?
Test the horn on a battery. Ground the horn body to the negative terminal and lightly touch the wire to the positive. If it doesn't honk, don't buy lottery tickets for two months. Festiva horns are garbage. Buy a real horn.

Here's a nice one on the Bay. God Bless America. California here I come.
I wonder if I could make my own discs and play some neat songs?
    Hmmmm.

    Unused.

Mine wasn't working either when I bought my car. I pulled it out and installed some Wolo horns in the inside passenger fender. Worked out great.

Anyone who buys those air horns on eBay had better have their head examined. Look at the size of that box! It looks like he stored two of them for 30 years. The box takes up more than half of his kitchen table!

          Pra, how about this one!
          Max sound.

Thanks guys, I'm going to just go out and buy a new one. That's probably my problem.

I tried testing them on the battery and nothing out of them.

Should be high and dry in engine compartment.

Was going to remove it and test it last winter, make sure it was horn itself and not relay, but got sidetracked. Pretty sure by its location that horn itself is problem. But not going to buy one, just grab one off one of my junk cars (non-Festiva). Save myself hassle of removing original. Or more likely keep trying such horns until I find a good one.... I keep spare new universal Bosch type relays around for just such projects. On my old F250 found horn itself was ok, it was faulty relay. Wiring is such a mess on that truck that I just ran new relay, new wiring, and new horn button mounted on dash.

Cant believe the prices of some of universal horns. Its a stupid horn for pete's sake. I've bought drivable cars cheaper than what they want for some of those fancy horns. Really only reason to have one is to be legal if cop gets gungho trying to find solution to his superior's orders to create revenue enhancement opportunities. I only use horn if some animal needs to move off the road. Honk at another car and have to fear road rage crazies out there. I dont particularly need to be shot IMHO....

I thought the $20 bucks shipped to my house was pretty cheap for two pretty powerful horns. The Wolos are nice.

The harbor freight air horns are super loud, and like 12 bucks, they'll kill a battery pretty quick too if the car isn't running haha... I didn't even bother to put it in the car yet, just fab'd up a bracket, mounted it to the side of my shelf in the garage, and ran wires to a spare battery with a toggle switch...it's now my wife call, she says she can't hear me screaming out there but she damn sure hears that LOL...

Twenty isnt too bad for two new horns. I was referring more to horns like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Triple-Trump...57ad79&vxp=mtr for a mere $139!

If I just had to buy a new horn, might go for HF OOOGAH horn, seen it on sale for $10.

My 88 Festy had one of these already when I bought it. My wife, kids, and friends all love it!

Horns like that seem a bit of an overkill!

I have a black Festiva (soon to have a yellow & black checkerboard hood) that is apparently invisible. You need a big enough horn to get the attention of people driving down the middle of the road busy talking on the phone, texting, watching the Garmin, or what ever they are doing besides paying attention.

Yes, but an air horn for a Semi while it does work...isn't necessary. My little $20 Wolo horns work just fine to alert idiots that don't see me.
