  • Engine problem! Need help urgent.

    Ok
My I drive a Aspire but I want to switch to a Festiva, but I want to fix up the Aspire for my wife.
The car started burning oil out of the blue just a little.
Now it started burning more and more, every 400miles I add 1 quart.
I can tell in the morning when I 1st fire it up, I see blue/black smoke for 5-6 sec.
I'm assuming the engine is going bad, so I want to rebuild it.
Where could I find a B3 engine rebuild kit??
    thx in advance

If there is a junkyard nearby, it would probably be cheaper to buy a spare engine.

NAPA and Shucks both carry all of the stuff you'd need to rebuild the engine, but I don't think they sell it in a kit.

Perfect time to do a b6 swap. Give a little power to the ol wifey?
    OX SMASH!!

Do a compression test. It may very well just be valve seals.

I would tear the head off and check for leaky valves, also check the pistons and mic em, you may have a scratched cylinder. If not I would rebuild the engine if there is no damage to the cylinders or valves. Rebuild kits arent that costly at Autozone and Partplus.

You may just have a bad ring, its good to check it out, and if all else fails goto the yard and get another engine with low miles on it. Do compression checks too on any engine you buy and also on the old one before making any decisions.

          Good luck.

            Sounds like valve stem seals.

You might be one past what auto-rx.com can help fix, but /shrug

            Check the PCV valve too.
