  • can I use an escort or tracer fuel pump

Ok, I'm getting ready to replace the fuel pump in my '91 L festy. I can get a oem replacement for $117 at Advance... but I can get one from a tracer or escort for $15 at the pull-a-part. Will one of those work? The guy at advance says that any EFI ford pump from about '90 to '94 will swap in. But then again last time I was in there he told me the story of how he intentionally blew up the 13,000 mile motor in his new ranger because he was swapping in a V8... so I think he is a little crazy maybe.

I've asked that before. Never got an answer one way or the other. When I did my BPT I 1st used the pump from the 323 gt b6t. Fit and worked fine. I switched just to make sure I'd never have a problem. Check the escort gt or protege BP's. If you buy one get a walbro off ebay (1st gen eclipse?). Mine was $100 shipped.

Look at http://www.partsamerica.com/default.asp They usually have pictures of many of the parts. See if they look the same.

ok, I should have clarified. This is going in my '91, which currently has the B3 from my '93 that I just rebuilt. So I'm looking for a fuel pump to give gas to the B3. But that does give me another idea. Maybe I should get a BP pump and throw it in the BP car, and let the little B3 have the working festy pump that is in the BP car right now. I'm going to give it a try anyway.
