Turn the lights on rear break lights are lie stuck on. Hit the breaks.....nothing no brighter they don't turn off and before this I had a problem with them coming on randomly and I could pull up on the break peddle and it would turn the lights off and then they would just randomly come on any ideas on what the heck is going on?...

Might want to check the switch by the pedal. It could be sticking

I had to buy a new switch shortly after I bought mine. They just stopped working. Sounds like the opposite problem you are having! Maybe the little plunger thing for that switch has some sort of dirt/gunk on it that's causing it to stay pushed in...

The brake switch is right on the back side of the brake pedal... you should see it when you get up under there. It's pretty easy to replace.

The clutch swith is the reason you have to push the clutch pedal in to start the car.

There's a little rubber pad on the pedal that depresses the switch. If that's not in place, or worn through, the lights will stay on.

I've had my fun with the BOO switch when I put in a '97 auto escort MC and booster. It dropped the brake pedal half an inch and I had to epoxy on a pad to depress it.

It's also possible the switch has failed in the circuit closed position..

Weird...you might have a grounding issue somewhere. I'd think with the switch unplugged it wouldn't be working...unless you got an exposed wire somewhere that is making the connection.

Iirc when the switch is open the brakes lights come on. When the switch is closed is when they turn off.

Yeah, but if the switch is completely removed they should not be on...right?
