Hey gang, I've got a quick easy question. I drove to work this morning in 90 degree heat and my compressor is dying on my 93 5 spd festiva. Called parts store and they said new compressor is over $300. Called salvage yard and they need to know if I have an "integral" or "hang-on" compressor. I wasn't sure which. Car came from factory with AC if that makes a difference. Do you guys know which I should ask for?

Assuming you're not in bumper to bumper traffic out there, try opening the rear window flaps and see if you don't get enough airflow to make you forget about the AC  . Festivas are really 4-wheeled motorcycles, but it's only in the summer heat that you get the full effect . I made a ~400 mi run yesterday in 95 degree heat, and never wished for AC.

I went to the "advance auto parts" website , according to their parts lookup a 93 fester could use a SD708 or SD709 compressor ,,, here is a cut and paste of "all vehicles this part fits" from their website for a SD709

looks like they all can come V belt or serpentine
Time to wipe off the grease and look for a manufacturers plate to determine what you have ,,, obviously you want it to be a SD709
If you need R12 freon I have about 2.5 lbs I'd let go for the eBay price of $15 per lb.
