I use 0w20 synthetic motor oil with great results.

480,000 miles on merc 3
2 discs, same flywheel and PP, 3 engines (1st burned valve, valve job, burned again, now a rebuilt different head/block
Same gearbox.
Fluids changed every 20,000 on manuals, every 7000 on autos because of pump and filter. I'm always needing hydraulic fluid, so seems as though I change oil and gearbox fluids more frequently on my 14 vehicles.....
Tried and tested. Higher priced stuff, is, well, higher priced.

I'm with the motor oil crowd. If you can find Mobil 1 Euro Spec, it has higher levels of additives to help with wear.
I've also heard many people who say 100k is fine for fluid in a manual trans, and others who have never changed the fluid in 100s of thousands of miles with no ill effects.Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I've ran both synthetic ATF and 30W motor oil in my cars with good results. On my next fluid change I'm swapping in Syncromesh. I've used it in Mustang T45's with great results, plus it has yellow metal compatibility. Pennzoil won't directly say that it's GL-4, but it's implied in all their product literature.
