Rough Idle

When I start my 91 Festiva GL for the first time in the day or after its sat for an hour or so, it shudders and feels like its about to die. Under acceleration it feels like there is nothing there whatsoever. Very very very sluggish. After driving on the road for a few minutes I can feel it "open up" and it will run perfectly normal like new again. This always happens. Any guess as to what it is??

With the heat ,especially the last week or so ,when I restart mine hot ,I experience the same very boggy feeling on take off ,never really on a cold start , And it does go away after fresh fuel gets to the injectors .
I blame the most of it on the gasoline today, alot of a ethanol /low boiling point ,it boils in the rail after you shut it off.
Try running running some Sea Foam thru it to help clean it up .

Hey thanks a lot. Good to know I'm not the only one. I noticed after new fuel it did stop for awhile. Question... What is Seafoam, where can you get it, and what does it do?

Seafoam is a fuel treatment ,pour in the gas or you can use it thru a vaccum line ,to help dissolve carbon deposits / build up in the combustion chambers ,running it thru the tank will help clean up injectors internally , I always wait till my tank is low then add a whole can and drive around with the mixture being concentrated ,then go fill up with some premium .
IMO Premium has less ethanol blended with it and I do get better mileage with it .
You can get it at almost any parts store ,O'Reillys,Autozone Parts America .
Just read the instructions on the different ways to use it .

if you can't find seafoam, go to your local ford dealer and get a can of PM2. it's marked as carb cleaner and decarbonizer. works great.
