  • Power steering in a 2000 Trio?

    Hello!

I just bought a 2000 Festiva Trio and on the test drive I assumed the power steering had just stopped working, but I am beginning to get the feeling maybe there is no power steering.. is this true?! Can I remedy this?

    Many thanks!

Festys are pretty lightweight cars, I wasn't aware there was a model that came with power steering either
It's only really a problem when parking

      Hello!

I think the later models had the option.. But it might be different over here in Australia.. The only reason I mind is because I live without a drive way on a little road with the tightest street parking known to man. Fun times!

If your thinking of putting in power steering and can't find an original power steering rack to convert your beast .. try using a DB Mazda 121 rack..as i understand it, they are the same width and fit perfectly across the front where the original steering rack sits.

the only other things you'd need to get also are the hoses and the power steering fluid reservoir and the accessories belt that will allow you to run the power steering pump.. after that, as long as there isn't any electricals to hook up or splice into your existing loom, you should be good to go.

        Where are you from lentron?

Make sure your front tires are fully inflated. It makes a massiv difference.

            Thanks for the advice guys!

I think the tyres are looking a bit flat so I'll see to that first. Then, I'll head down to a wreckers to look for the parts i need.. so thanks for the info!

Don't forget the idle up circuit. The idle must increase when you crank the wheels while standing still or the engine will stall. The pressure switch on the pump grounds the circuit when the fluid pressure exceeds the spring pressure.
