  • Engine running overly hot even since the overheating Incident.

I changed out the t-stat, and redid the jbweld on the thermostat housing.

The engine gets up to temp, and then keeps climbing with the cooling fan on, and when moving. The top radiator hose is hot, so there is coolant getting through the thermostat.

    What the hell? Please help!

maybe something slowwing the flow down. have you tried to bypass heater core just to see if that is the cause?

It wasn't an issue before, I don't know why the heater core would be now.

just thinking outside the box. maybe it got some rust buildup or some blockage in it and is slowing the flow.

I am hoping it isn't the JBweld, but it shouldn't since I wasn't overly excessive with it.

            Try a cooling system flush?

It still had air in the system, thats why it was getting hot. I let it cool down and popped the radiator cap off and the radiator was low, So I topped it off and now it runs cool.

probably blowed out the head gasket.. that's what happens after it overheats really good one time, it just keeps overheating. I'd start tearing it down and plan on shaving .02" off the head but before you pull the head check the water pump to make sure nothing is obviously wrong with it.. why did it overheat in the first place, and you didn't mention any smoke..

I believe I have been fighting a blown head gasket too. See how the water looks like rainbow colored. I believe this is fuel from the combustion chamber coming up through the bubbles. The car does not smoke. Also this is with the thermostat removed so I can see the bubbles. It still overheated with no thermostat.

The car is fine now, coolant is clean, it doesn't bubble, and no longer overheats. It only oveated before because the coolant spilled out when the thermostat housing popped off, because the jbweld gave up.

                    The headgasket is fine.

I get that in all my rebuilds. it's from washing/flushing the coolant passages of block/head with parts washing fluid, which is usually mixed with oils from other wash projects.

Shouldn't overheat with nostat. My 1.3 with higher compression, earlier this summer, 90F day, ripping down eway, barely would bust the first mark on cold side of scale.

                      Glad it's running though

All oil film looks pretty on water. DNR and DEQ think differently.....

Mine reads 235 on the gauge in mega squirt. It will sit there and bubble all day. It will over heat if I sit in traffic for more than 15 min. Florida of course it's 90+ all the time.

Eek. I'd richen the antifreeze. Shouldn't boil until easily 250 with right mixture and cap.

I'm sure that 10w oil is thinner then water @ those temps.... Poor rod bearings.....

Yeah good thing I never drive it.

But I can't represent not driving my car so I have tried replacing the radiator, thermostats x2 180, now no thermostat, no matter what I have tried it will get hot and blow all of its coolant till it over heats. I've tried 15 lb rad cap and 75% coolant which is strong. Should boil around 265 degrees but I can't get it to stay cool. 3,000 miles on a swapped bp new water pump and gaskets.

Has the engine been bored so that the cylinder wall may be too thin?
