    FestyBoy's repair Stickies

    ok guys and gals, i've made the decision to do some more writeups reguarding tools and procedures for common festy parts/systems failures.
    I already have one for waterpump/timing belt replacement, and i still need to get ahold of the vids i had made for front bearing replacement (with hand tools).

    i need suggestions for other repairs/part replacements.

    i'll then take my writeups and combine other members contributions into a "master stickie" and have it posted at the top of this forum.
    this might take a while to compleate.
    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
    94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

    Art, I was thinking the carby "collapsing fuel line issue" might be a good candidate for a sticky, since there have been a few peeps lately that, that has happened to.
    I actually had been thinking of PM'ing you about that! lol

      Repacking rear wheel bearings and reinstallation of springs in order, including which way to spin the self adjuster....just saying :p

      If you want to go ahead and do one for removing and installing rear struts or springs that would be cool too.

      Ooh, if you want to do one for rebuilding a caliper that would be awesome!

                Arty, is it true that you have to drop the oil pan to change the water pump? Are vise grips the best tool to remove the oil pan bolts? How about the crank bolt, does it need to come off? Can I get it off with a strap wrench?

                Also, at what size does a screw become a bolt?

                    I was hoping for some useful advice here, like do I need metric vise grips, or what caliber of strap wench would be suitable.

                        I've documented repairs and put photos in albums at photobucket under userid ag384fb.
                        Feel free to link to them.

                        Festivas are known for weak ignition systems.
                        That would be a good topic to cover.

                        Then there are the vacuum hoses on the carburetted models.
                        Where are they and what do they do.
