  • Best Degreaser

What have y'all found best to cut oil and grease build up? I have used purple power and cheap engine degreaser on the valve covers. But the engine block is nasty.

Purple Power or Dawn Power Dissolve.
If it don't fit, use a bigger hammer!

I like the eagle etching wheel cleaner. It will screw up polished aluminum, which means it works LOL. I've cut it down with water and it still does great under the hood. Autozone has the 2 for 1 specials from time to time.

I also jack the car up and tilt it so the drippings will get caught in a bucket, then you can use it over for the nasty oil leak stuff.. Brake cleaner is the best of course, i always try to catch that stuff when i remember.

                      Dawn Power Dissolver FTW

I've used almost everything on the market and you can't beat this stuff. Plus it makes aluminum bright and shiny instead of black like some of the more acidic cleaners.

Try a bottle and I'll guarantee you will never be without it in your shop again...I have 10 stashed on the shelf right now LOL

I just drop my stuff off at Technostrip and they return it to me clean.
It's just like the dry cleaners, except for metal.
I don't have to deal with any harmful chemicals and I don't have any guilty feelings because of their environmentaly friendly, ISO certified disposal procedures.

Dawn Power Dissolver is great on tough grease but don't get it on your paint, it likes to remove that also.
An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

^^ Really? That's new to me. I've used it many engine bays without any issues.

I'll have to keep an eye on that in the future.

Now SuperClean on the other hand....that stuff will strip some paint! But at least when you're done with the SC the surface is etched and ready for fresh paint.
