festiva still not starting

  • festiva still not starting

    i posted before but to avail still havent been able to start it after cleaning valve cover head and pcv ports i think the timing may have been thrown off a mechanic told me. i dunoo what to do it turns over and cranks but not starting any ideas help maybe how to check timing any suggestion would be nice thanks guys

    is there spark?

    will it run on carb cleaner or brake clean?

    when you actuate the throttle linkage, do you see a squirt of fuel from the accel jet in the primary barrel?

      How did you clean the valve cover? Did you unscrew all the tiny screws and remove the baffle plate?

        yes we put everything back together and it started but was running rough but wasnt able to restart

          is there spark?

          did you disconnect the plug wires durring the cleaning process?

          was the dizzy cap removed for any reason?

          are there any vac lines disconnected?

          is there power to the coil?

          please answer these in order.

            thanks guys for all the help and festyboy i did all of that still wasnt nothing but my dad had the backyard mechanic look at it and he said timing was off and needed a new timing belt and alternator belt but im having a friend from work is ASE and works on planes,big motors, etc look at it he also told me it might be the timing is off and so im gonna have him look at it to make sure and then get the belts, new wires, plugs, dist cap, but hey thanks every one for input ill keep everyone posted on how it goes

              well, that 4 line run-on sentance, answers none of my questions, but, OK....

                lol sorry about that.i was wondering are there any pro mechanics that know festivas really well on here in or near nj? or should i ask that on another discussion?i figure if i gotta do some work to my car i wanna do everything so i dont have to worry about car for a while. but i would like someone who has experience with this type of car and a passion/love for them.

                      Where are you located? I travel back from time to time for work. I work in Marlboro and stay in Old Bridge.

                        i'm ASE certified (not that it means much), and i own 9 festivas and 3 aspires, does that qualify? :p

                          Zanzar im in south jersey, vineland to be particular. Festyboy that most definitely qualifies you! you obviously love you some festiva as much i do.Do you currently work on cars and interested in helping a fellow festiva driver out? i see your in lancaster thats only 2 hours away.If your interested we can exchange info.
