Have had trouble with my Ford Festiva backfiring, losing power then stalling. We replaced the leads, spark plugs and fuel filter. It no longer backfires but can only get a few feet before it stalls again. It takes a few attempts to start it again, we have to rev it high to get it to move before it stalls again. :nightmare:

I'm assuming you're in Australia? Maybe.
Nobody's really up at this time of the morning, but a few questions will help them answer you later on:
Is it carb or EFI? Did you repair anything before this started?
If its carb, it sounds just like what my Sprint did.. I wouldn't say it backfired, per say, but it would decide to 'buck' when it got warmer, and if turned off wouldn't run unless it was at 3k RPM or more. Ended up being a fuel line someone routed directly beside the manifold downpipe. All the old line covering had worn off, and it got hot enough to burn the fuel inside.
But I don't really have much knowledge in these things.. wait a few hours for the experts to get on.

Otherwise, though: Welcome to the site! Adding your location under 'My Profile' might help you out a bit, too.Last edited by Spike; 08-26-2013, 03:23 AM.White '92 GL 5-speed BP, G series, Aspire/Rio swapped, "Nancy"
