Indian head gasket shellac compound. It's what I used to get my crap to seal up. Good stuff!

Get ALL your vacuum leaks fixed before you do anything else. What about the adapter plate.. did you make your own?

I made my own adapter plate and was sure everything was good.i am now tired of tyin to adjust carb all the time bc a vac leak from adapters being ao slighlty warped.calling it good and gettin adapter from rocketman next week.i mean everyone says webers are fabulous and so far i like mine.but at times i want to just pull it off and sell it.i think my experience tho is bc vac leak.

        Vacuum leak = Bad

How thick are your adaptor plates? The thin ones I dont like. Hard to keep from warping. Made my own adaptor from 1 inch and 1/2 inch aluminum plate stock.
        Did you use gaskets?

Rocketman carb adapter. I'm sure it's something of my own doing, and am taking it apart in just a bit.. maybe just didn't get it tightened down right. I had a bit of trouble with the bottom gasket going on, so who knows (that's the leaker). Might have that backwards or something.

It was 103 outside yesterday lol.

            I'm dumb.

I left the old gasket residue on the OEM mounting plate. fftheair:

Took everything off, made my own gasket (pretty much killed the other one), and bought some of that Old Indian Shellac. Worked well (though I got some on my finger nails - it's stuck on there). Now idles at about 1500RPM before adjustment. Can't find any vacuum leaks now.. should be okay to go forward.

Other than that, it sounds perty. Revs nicely, too.

Oh Oh. Should I do anything with the 'stacks' that connected to the old carb 'throttle body' area. The ones on the right. I think the FSM calls them secondary air jets or something.

I saw in another build where they were just left there, but they have a bit of an exhaust-ish gassy smell.

take a rubber hose and loop them together.

use a vac gauge and report on idle vaccum please.

I don't have a vacuum gauge, but I've got it down to a steady (not fluctuating at all) 900RPM. Don't smell any fuel unless I get close. Found 2 spots I forgot to plug, plugged those. It runs reallllllly nice now. Feels amazing compared to the old sluggish carb.
