    ADVICE with 1993 Festi oil pump replacement?

    Hello all, I am getting ready to attempt changing my oil pump and would like to know if anyone has any advice as to the difficulties I may encounter / a "heads up" or tricks / generally I need this to go as quick and as smooth as possible. I have to do it outside and do not want to have to leave my motor exposed to the elements should I run into any unexpected issues. I thank you all for not only this issue but the vast amount of helpful data and advice this site brings to me, I have always been steered in the right direction. I also find it amazing that until now i've been able to do so by merely reviewing others posts!

    By the way I found this 93 festi a few years ago from the posts that one of you were listing of all the listed festivas you'd gathered from other sources.

      I rolled my car outside for 2 months with head off, pan off, pistons out, hood closed.

      No issues. Dirt doesn't fall up. Not last I checked.

      If you're replacing the pump, then there's nothing to check besides making sure old gasket material is scraped clean. And be generous with RTV, don't do it again because you skimped on another finger dab. Gaskets are good. Gaskets with RTV on both sides is better.

      I know, I'm pulling a Suzuki engine again out of a miserable 4wd tracker this weekend because of the oil pan leaking a tiny bit up at the block.

        Just out of curiosity, what led you to think you need a new oil pump? They generally last a long time. I don't see any thread you opened about your problem.

          ^ Good point. Was thinking the same.

          If its leaking oil from the pump area, you may just need a crank seal and/or cam seal.

            I'm going to have to change one out due to the tensioner bolt hole broke out.

              Bummer. Didn't know the tensioner bolt hole was part of the oil pump.
