Tell me more about swapping Aspire axel nuts. I have plenty of junk yards around me - what do I have to do to put the aspire nut on my festiva? I hate the stake nuts too...
)
I would presume that Aspire and early Rio rear hub nuts to be the same thread as Festy. Merely spin off that part from a JY car, fit them on yours, scribe or mark where to drill the cotter pin hole and away you go. If you take your old stake nut with you to the JY it may be worthwhile to check out other cars for compatible thread cotter pin/castle nut arrangements; likely there are numerous Japanese/Korean cars that use the same arrangement.
Trying to retrofit anything more (ie infinitely more desirable 4x100 pattern hubs and drums) on to a Festy for sure ain't gonna work.
To answer another question about stake nuts that are worn out; the staking of a nut on an axle is merely insurance against the part ever deciding to come loose. Just because they aren't staked doesn't mean a wheel is immediately gonna fall off.
By the way: do not forget that the passenger side nut on 'our' cars is reverse thread?
I'm on miss matched cages and races, is that even worse? Ha.

I assume that means the bearings and the races are not the same.
Yeah I had that happen, I didn't mean for that to happen, but when I was digging through my parts I found some races that I thought were Valucraft ones from the bearings I had originally got for the car, but decided to upgrade to timkins, I found that the races had Timkin etched in the side. So I am running a Timkin bearings on a Valucraft races. Been running good though, 10k miles and over a year of service so far.
