  • Suspension Work

I know this has been asked/answered and posted multiple times but I am just not gleaming all of my answers from other posts.. I have recently replaced rack, innner & outer tre's, lca's and both axle shafts. I just ordered new sway bar to chasis bushings from superpro (spf1428-22k). It is time for shocks/struts and springs front and rear.

I want to use 2001 Kia Rio front Springs, struts and tophats with the stock Festiva Knuckle on the front and 2001 Kia Rio fron Springs along with Aspire shocks on the back. I know it will lift the car up a little but I am ok with that. I occasionally tow a small trailer and a liitle bit of height in the back will be good, I also want to go to 175/70/13 for tires. I believe the spring-strut-shock combos I mentiond will work. Looking for some input..

Camber bolts I can handle.. I was thinki 1 inch lift acceptable. I really want NEW springs when I do the shocks/struts but 3 inch is high...

I put Rio struts and springs in my car. With the springs cut 1 1/2 coils, I'm about an inch or so higher in the front. They are also much stiffer (but comfortable). Rio springs in the back are going to add lots of height and will be really STIFF.

I tow quite often. Before I did the Aspire swap, I put Festiva front springs in the rear. I still have them back their with the Aspire stuff. Works great, and improved handling as well, although the ride is, of course, a touch stiffer. For class one stuff, even pushing the limit, works just fine for almost two years now.

I would just do an Aspire swap if I could but finding a donar car up here in good shape is close to impossible. Plus I really want new springs when I change things and it appears for the Aspire they are non existant too..

can someone propose a front and rear strut spring combo that will work?

If you want all new stuff then you're probably looking at having to go with coilovers.

Discuss improvements to your Festiva or Aspire in the handling, braking, wheels and tires areas.

There IS an Aspire swap fairly close to you in PA. Member "Bobbyspider" has an entire Aspire swap just waiting for you!

Contact him and I am sure he can hook you up!
