    Clogged fuel filter?

Bad distributor, loses power upon heating up?

Just a few things to check

You need to figure out what it's losing. Spark, fuel?

Grounds are very important. There's a ground block really close to the passenger headlight, also the one from battery to frame to Trans.

The part of me that thinks it's not a ground is it having to sit for an hour

You can grab a cheap fingernail file from anywhere, and use it to clean the terminals.

I'd try wiggling connectors, with the car running. If you touch one and something changes, that's one of the culprits

It sounds like a bad electronic component. Sounds like once it heats up it stops working and needs to cool down in order to work again. See if you have spark after it quits running.

Ignition control module can heat up and quit.
Some auto parts stores will test them free of charge.
Not cheap new but I've seen some used ones for sale on this site.
