Ah ha! Thanks That's what was bad for me. In the door the wires had been cut. But I salvaged the belts from it so My new festiva has a fully working set of new belts! I didn't even know about that switch in the door.

No the tree was unscathed, But it did smash the rear axle off the frame... Turns out there was a lot of runt in that one spot. In fact just that one weld.

Sounds like you got very lucky that it hit the tree and exposed the under car issues!

Anyone know how much weight savings can be had by switching from auto to manual belts?
I know how to use the search function, I just don't always choose to use it. New modifications, solutions, and information are discovered every day and I want to know what the current concensus is for whatever topic I have in mind. Thank you for understanding this!

Also, are there any direct manual seat belt swaps from different vehicles? Since driving around in your car without a shirt is culturally acceptable in Hawaii,
I don't want some dirty, sun dried belts from a high mileage festiva.

Woha, How many festivas are running around in Hawaii? And I believe you can get pre 1989 festiva belts. other then that I cant think of one. Perhaps you could get a seat belt cover like this- http://www.coopersafety.com/product/...ver-19608.aspx
