  • Fuel line positions from underneath?

Quick question. I have a rust hole in the fuel line of my '90L (fuel injected). Naturally, it's right where the lines go into the crossmember. By amazing luck, I have got the crossmember off without problem, and I'm planning to splice a section of flexible line into the bad place, but I'd like to know where this line goes.

Under the floorboard, the inner three lines are fuel, the outer two brake. It's the middle of these five lines that's bad. Is this the main feed line? Does it go straight to the fuel filter? It might help how I plan to attack this if I knew where it went, and I can't trace it easily where it disappears past the organizer on the firewall.

Yes, the supply line is the third line in from the R/H side of the car.
This would be an ideal time to buy a piece of stainless tubing and bend it to fit.
Did it rust from the outside in? or the inside out? If it rusted from the inside, and you have a lot of water/ethanol in your tank and lines, then you definitely need stainless. Check inside your tank with a flashlight. See if its rusty inside.

Thanks! And it rusted from the outside. Probably a crystal of road salt landed there. Overall, it's pretty rust-free, so this surprised me. Agree with stainless, but I have a trip to make Thurs....

On the road again! And the lumen of the line was shiny, so the chunk of road salt theory still holds. Super happy that this happened while it was still warm enough outside to work with just a shirt on (rain and getting colder tomorrow), and that all bolts/nuts came loose with only one application of torch to two of the three front transmission nuts. Never-seized all threads and greased the outside of the lines once back together.
