  • High Beam Help

My high beams don't work.. Well mostly.. They pop on every once in a while.. I am pretty sure the bulbs are good. It has to be something electrical.
Could it be the relay? Anyone have a picture of where this thing is? I know it is behind the battery, but my battery is being held in by a bungie cord, so there are a couple of dangling relays behind the battery. Still trying to get things sorted out.

Check the relay behind the passenger headlight. I replaced all of them on mine and still nothing. I swapped the relay by the vaf and they are fine now. There is also a cluster of three relays behind the drivers headlight. Also make sure your fusible links are in good shape

88/89 did not have a headlight relay. Later years did.

I do have an old orange 1988 switch with really low miles to offer if you track down that is what is wrong, as i remember reading there are differences in the wiring vs newer years. always try to stick to the same year when doing interior or you get un needed headaches.

Learned about this issue many years ago on my original 1990 LPlus. Cleaned the Head fusible link contacts and the problem was fixed. This may be your problem too.

Here is how I cleaned my HEAD(light) fusible link.
              Wire wheel on a Dremel.
