  • Broke the driver's automatic seatbelt

All the time belts worked fine, and did not cause any complaints.
But a few days ago, stopped to close the driver's belt.
I reached the door, checked the micro switch on the castle - it's OK.
Then I removed the side panel where the motor belt - there are also fine.

Checked the connector block that is under the seat, and smeared it with a special spray - and nothing has changed.

Please note that the fuse is normal, and the passenger belt works perfectly.

I tried to manually move the lock to different distances, and when you open the door - he was always properly shifted to the "open" position.

Also a few times was that the belt is properly closed (with the ignition on and the door is closed). But I have not found a pattern.

What do you think about this?
The impression is that the belt-control unit does not see the running ignition, and only for the driver's seat belt.

I reached the door, checked the micro switch on the door-lock - it's OK.

I use a translator, but not all of it translates well.

I'm talking about this little plunger switch down at the base of the door when you open it. It triggers the interior light and belts I believe...

All you'll see in the door is the two screws holding it down and then the plunger part which is white in this picture, but will be black on our cars. The inside part can get corroded.

The dome light door plungers on my corroded fleet of Festivas are not reliable at all and I leave a flashlight in the gloveboxes on purpose. And now you tell me that this simple and stupid gizmo also triggers automatic seat belts. Americans have this idiot set up and I guess there are some other Countries that have it too. Shop around; non=electric and manual Festy/Pride/121 belts do exist and bolt right in. I would know; none of the 92-93 Canada import Festys I've ever had had self=actuating seat belts.
And I thought Canucks were merely meek followers of USA dictates but here we have ordinary simple belts and they don't.
            Far out!

I thought they did, but I got rid of my auto belts and put manual ones in...plus I don't have my Festy anymore so I don't remember. The auto belts might have been triggered by the ignition...not sure..

                Broke the driver's automatic seatbelt

The automatic seat belts are controlled by a switch within the latch/lock mechanism itself. They're better protected from the elements in the door but could still fail.

                You said they function occasionally?

There could be a bad relay in the seatbelt control box under the seat. Try, with the ignition on and the door closed, to pull the moving end of the seatbelt away from its parked position. It should push back until it closes the micro switch at the end of the track. If it does, the motor works and you should find a replacement control box.

This switch does not participate in the work of the belt.

Motor 100% working, as I wrote in the first message, if I slip the moving part of the belt at any distance, and then open the door - he regularly moves to the start of the track.
So it is just a bad relay in the control box.
I will try to conjure with it ....

Motor double-checked in the opposite direction, he also works

That is, cause remains only in the control unit.
Took it off, took apart, the relay responsible for driving the belt is not clacking.

                      But the relay tricky.
                      Each belt have two relay.

But the relay tricky. Each strap two pieces.
Tried to power a relay responsible for passenger belt.
Apply power to the control contacts - one clacking, the other does not (although it is known to be working).
Same thing with the Driver's relay. One clacking, the other not.

I'll give an electrician friend, let study.

I can give a seatbelt module to Freedom Village America. I can get the director from Freedom Village Ukraine to take it back with him. Please send me a private message with your name and address. You must wait until the next time he visits America.

Oh, that's interesting. I'll write you a private message, if my friend does not deal with this unit.
                          Thank you!

PS Sorry, what is "Freedom Village"?

In block exploded found one diode, but the shield, so that in operation of the seat is not much matter.

And the reason was a broken-down switch or the wire at the end of the track of the lock
The cause found, but not yet repaired.

                            Thank you!
