I have a '91 L, 5 speed. I was curious if the valves in the Festy motor are adjustable or do they all tick?

You can't adjust them, they are hydraulic.
They're not supposed to tick, and I believe there's some stuff available you can add to the oil to counteract that - perhaps DarkDan could chime in?White '89L auto - Sold!

I AM REPLACING MY HLA's (hydraulic lash adjusters)

sure it ticks? these motors arn't necessarily quiet. and they are hydraulic lash adjusters like tim said. good luck finding them tho. i ended up putting my spare head on before i found any.90 L FI..second B3

I have about 1200 miles on a complete rebuild. New HLA's and they will still tick after the car sets for a couple days. It only takes less than a minute for them to quiet.
New HLA's should be able to be found at any machine shop.Lifes journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid sideways totally worn out, shouting...holy sh!t FESTIVA!!!!!!!Comment
