  • Oil Catch can ?s

I'm thinking of installing an oil catch can, but I have a few questions about them. I've done some reading and seen a few videos about installing them. I have a 1988 Ford festiva L with stock carb recently rebuilt.

Is it recommended for a car such as mine? Most sources I've seen only mention installing them on a turbo engine.

All of the videos I watched showed them being installed between the PCV valve and the intake. Can they be installed on the breather tube also? I ask because I seem to get a lot of oil coming through there.

Which brings me to my next question. Would installing a catch can on the PCV tube eliminate the oil coming through the breather tube?

Has anyone installed one of these successfully? Any problems? What should I look for?

Installing a catch can betweeb pvc, and intake really will not do much. If you are wanting to install a catch can, it means you have OIL BLOWBY, which will blow out through the breather tube on the valve cover.
Guess you could install one on the breather, but if the blowby is bad, you will be emptying it a lot!
Its better than having oil blow all over the engine, though.

Better start looking into rebuilding the engine, blowby means the piston rings are toast
You can also swap in another good used engine, or you may get away with new rings and a hone of the cylinder walls.

    Good luck!

You can put them inline both locations. Oil reduces octane which is why turbo owners go out of their way to address this. On the pcv side its such a straight shot, if the can is high up oil will not collect. Fasten it lower than valve cover near vaf

I don't really have time or money to rebuild the engine. Where should i put the can for the breather tube?
