  • water in the oil

I have a 94 Festiva, and it had oil in the water so while we had the head off we put a recon head on, head gasket was OK.
1800km later it,s doing it again.
Runs fine apart from the oil in the over flow bottle
Any idea's as to the problem, is this a common fault :? ?

since you have a 94 festiva, im guessing its what we call a aspire, the round egg shaped car that came after the festiva over here.

I also have a 94 aspire, with oil in the coolant. Mine is caused from a crack in the engine block, allowing alittle oil and alittle air to transfer with the coolant.

Signs of this would also be loosing coolant slowly over a long period of time, steam coming out the exhaust pipe, and a smell of antifreeze while you are driving.

Mine also overheats when you go up hills for long durations.

If you start the car with the rad cap off does it blow coolant out the top of the radiator?

It doesn't blow the water out, but the level will slowly start to rise.
