  • Ridiculous hatch rattling

Any tried and true methods? anyone find the most likely culprits to this with a solution? mine closes solid, just a bunch of high pitched squeaking...

I've always had the same problem, never been able to really nail it down, but I can only figure the latch itself is worn.

Those hatch latches are adjustable. You can loosen the mounting screws and move the latch around. Might help.

that may work for him, I tried it on mine both the hatch latch and the hood latch pins are worn more than half way through on my car, I have spares, just don't ever think about it till I am driving down the road and the rattling is driving me nuts :tard:

This may sound strange but the hatch may in fact be adjusted too tight. Back off the latch a little bit and see what happens. Happened to me a few years ago and seemed to be counter-intuitive to slacken off the latch but it worked!

Sometimes you can cut a very small hole in the weatherstripping and feed a narrow length of vacuum hose in there. Just use a little bit of silicone grease and feed it through until it gets all the way around the seal.

This helps to "thicken" and bulk up the seal for a tighter fit.

My previous aspire had hatch rattling from the subwoofer in the trunk.

So I adjusted the hatch latch to tighten up the slack.
              And it never rattled again.
Also it shut nice and tight.
              Running 40psi.....in my tires.

Mine rattled for the longest time. I actually pinned it down to the license plate screws being too small causing the license plate to rattle

Make sure the hatch lock has a thin rubber gasket around the lip of the bezel and that the inner spring retainer clip has good tension.

I did what you are suggesting with the doors, yesterday I went to the hardware store and bought some cord and put it around the door seal, the wind noise was greatly reduced.

wrap a small piece of electrical tape around the part of the catch that the latch hits. Use a piece about 3 or 4 " long. It will keep it quiet for a while. Lucky has the same issue.

I use my hatch door about 10 times daily it will cut right thru. I do remember doing that to my foxbody Mustang because the plastic outer ring will split on those
