My new festiva...

Okay, so I have a new 93 5 speed festiva to replace the one I ruined when I blew the head gasket. My other one was the same year, 5 speed as well. This new one has no guts to it. The one I ruined when I stepped down on the gas she would go. This one just sits there and eventually gets going. Any ideas how to pep this one up?

Also, when I turn the key to start the car, the engine turns over and I let off the key but there is a winding noise for a few seconds like I still have the key turned forward. Whats up with that?

the new one is in need of a tune-up and a verification that the cam timing is correct. if it's off a tooth or 2, it'll be a gutless wonder.

as for the starter, it sounds like the bendix is sticking, making the gear overrun with the engine. you may want to look into replacing it before it fails you.
