I parked my Festy for 5 days until my new struts came and when I started it up it now has a noticeable ticking sound. It sounds like a lifter to me but I don't understand why it would suddenly go bad when I haven't been driving it. The temp did drop below freezing for 2 days. Well maintained BP with around 85k and recent oil change. How do you check if one has gone bad?

Agreed, it didnt "go bad", oil just drained from the hydraulic lifter. Has happened in every hydraulic lifter vehicle I have owned.Oldest Festiva on the forum (so far) 3/87 LX - 225k

What about using a heavier oil? I used 75/90w and the engine loved it.
Did it in my b3.. Was quite the smooth sounding engine.

LoL.. No.. My mate had a MOPAR and said change the oil over asap.. I decided against it as there wasn't any issues from it and tbh, it sounded a lot better running that than 10/40w.. There was no noticeable power loss either.

I'm not telling them to do it.. I'm saying my engine loved it.
