Well, I'm going to have to sell 2 of the 5 Festivas we have.
G-dine's 18 year old son got arrested early Sunday morning for breaking and entering and stealing from a carryout near where she lives. He used my 4 wheeler to commit the crime, so my 4-wheeler is gone. Took it for evidence! What a stupid kid! So we need bail money for him and my 4-wheeler. I told G-dine he should sit in there and do the time!!
I'm going to probably sell Blue the one with no rust & the one I have been talking about on this thread. That one was going to be her sons, but not anymore.
The other one is going to be the red GL. The one that had the battery blow up in it.

I know the history of the Festy is that it sat around for a long time. It had insect nests in the engine compartment when we got it home & the tires went flat too from dry rot. I'm hoping something is just sticking and I can get lucky by working it free.
We will diagnose the problem, I just need the weather to get a little warmer.

So compression bleeding backwards through the crankcase means what? piston rings worn?Last edited by muleskinner; 01-18-2014, 10:04 AM.

The PCV valve seems to be working properly, but I'm still going to replace it.
I started the Festy earlier and it smoked some on start up, then it cleared for a bit, then started smoking like crazy after that. Jeez! I'm starting to think worn engine, head gasket, or valve seals.
I say head gasket because of the lighter color smoke coming out all over .... like a smoke screen.

Now I have figured it out ...... a blown turbo!! ;-)

Oil has been changed, I will get the PCV valve changed also.
I'll let you know what the results are......

Blow buy will make your oil black, stinky & spray out your tail pipe.Valve seals dont usually make your oil this nasty... When its running pull the PCV valve out of the valve cover. You will hear and see the blow but through the hole. Healthy compression rings wont give you a lot of noise and vapor out of the hole. Just saying -

If it still smokes, you can do a compression test on a warmed up engine, then squirt a little oil in each cylinder, then test each one again. If the numbers rise with a few drops of oil in the cylinder, think rings. If not, learn how to replace valve stem seals
