The temperature sensor for the instrument cluster gauge is located in the cylinder head, close to the thermostat. It has a single bullet connector. Use the search function to find a picture of it. It is a small sensor. It should be right in front of you when you open the hood. The sensor grounds through the cylinder head. Check for ground. Make sure the bullet terminal is clean and has good electrical contact.

For a manual transmission, the mechanical speedometer cable hooks directly to the top of the transmission near the firewall. It is held in place by a 10mm bolt and an o-ring. Be careful not to over tighten the 10mm bolt. The pot metal bracket will break. With the speedo cable/gear removed, this is also the place to check the transmission fluid level. The other end of the speedo cable fastens directly to the back of the instrument cluster.

          Is the speedometer noisy?
Try pulling pulling the speedo cable out and lubricating it.
Some have found that fixes the problem.
